for the Believer is about being conformed to the image of our Lord, and if Jesus suffered during His life, then how can we be made like Christ without suffering too? The answer is: We can't! Let me be clear, we don't suffer to pay for our own sins, nor do we suffer to earn favor, rather, we suffer to be conformed to Christ; to be made more like Him!
"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." -Romans 8:28, NKJV
"For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren." -Romans 8:29, NKJV
"Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy." -1 Peter 4:12-13, NKJV
"The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together." -Romans 8:16-17, NKJV
"Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also." -John 15:20, NKJV
"In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ," -1 Peter 1:6-7, NKJV
"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." -Romans 8:18, NKJV
